Trip date: May 22, 2017 Ahh May, the rest stop before summer. This is about the time we start embracing the sun, anticipating the summer months, and planning out & preparing for new adventures. We had plans for the long weekend, none of which panned out because Ryan & I ended up fighting a cold. By Monday, we were eager to get out, and decided to check out the Mosquito Creek cascades in North Vancouver.

When the weather starts to warm things up, the valley floor is the first thing to clear and local waterfalls usually start working their magic, tempting us to leave the snow behind. We recently hiked to Kennedy Falls and Cypress Falls in the North Shore, and I’ve spent some time exploring various cascades on Burke Mountain, including Sawblade Falls. After some plan-devising, we decided to hike the Sigurd Creek Trail to Crooked Falls, located in Squamish, BC.
Trip date: February 27, 2016 My sister, Skeena (the family dog), and I recently checked out the Woodland Walk trail, located in Burke Mountain, Port Coquitlam. We were looking for a quick, mellow jaunt through the woods. The Woodland Walk trail is a relatively flat hike; one of many trails created by the Burke Mountain Naturalists from abandoned logging roads in the Burke Mountain area. It includes some long, gradual ups and downs. The end destination is the Woodland Waterfall. From there you can either continue up to…
